Under $200 Kitchen Make Over {and that includes new flooring}

I am finally finally done with my kitchen...{I think!}
And ready to show photos.

 I moved my cake plate collection down to the counter top so they can be seen better. {Plus I use them often for parties, and it's a pain to climb a ladder to reach them all the time}
The island is my favorite piece because it was a base cabinet found discarded curbside.

I hauled it home, gave it a fresh coat of paint, added some  glass knobs {half off at Hobby Lobby}, and a white Italian Marble top.
The marble was a Craigslist find for $50, it had a base piece that I sold for $25. So I pretty much got an expensive marble counter top for $25!!

It didn't fit exactly so we added some trim pieces and I hung some brackets on the side where it overhangs.
 I reaaaallllly love it!

 I finally painted the inside of the china cabinet.....got tired of the yellow and I think all the pretty pastels "pop" better against the white.

Soooo are you ready for some of the before photos?
 When we moved in there was nothing but subflooring that someone painted grey....our socks stuck to it and it was just gross. We bought cheap laminate tile and put it down ourselves.

The whole kitchen was a dingy off white. My dad gave me a gallon of bright white and I painted the whole thing. I added some white linen fabric from the thrift store to the built in cabinet, since once upon a time before we moved in, someone broke out all of the glass.
 The china cabinet was YELLOW.
It could still use some small things but we are on the teeny tiniest of budgets and this was what our finances would allow and honestly I am VERY happy with the results.

All in all, we put very little money and a lot of elbow grease into our farmhouse kitchen. Most of the fixtures, furniture, and nik naks were either free {like my 1959 GE stove} or very cheap like {like the china cabinet $30 from Ebay}

  7. Love it, love it, love it! I so understand a teeny tiny budget, but isn't it so satisifying though? I tend to stay on a budget even when I have the money to do whatever I want. I think I like it better that way and we definitley have something no one else will have that's for sure! I'm your newest follower...so happy I found ya!

  9. It all looks wonderful!! My kitchen cabinets are in DESPERATE need of a repainting, so that is on my to-do list for later this spring :) Right now I have pink rose knobs on them, but I feel it's time for a bit of a change, just not sure what yet to replace them with? The drawers have pink glass pulls, so perhaps some pink glass knobs. Or perhaps changing them all to white? LOVE the mirror above the stove!! ♥

  16. Beautiful! I love it! Do you have a Habitat Restore in your area? Its a plethora of cheap stuff (I get old doors with glass knobs for $2 or drawers for $2 each there) and they often have new wood flooring, laminate, etc super duper cheap! If you have one, even if its a bit of a drive, its is worth making a trip because it full of treasures!
